Saved to Serve

Devotional Reading: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

When God saved you, He did not just save you from something (sin, death, hell); He also saved you for something. Salvation is not the end of the story, it is the beginning of your service. Imagine being hired for a job, given a company badge, but never actually showing up at the office. That is what many believers do: saved, but missing in action.

You were carefully crafted by God; His workmanship. The Greek word there is poiema, meaning masterpiece. And God does not create useless masterpieces. Every detail about you: your personality, your skills, even your sense of humor, was designed for service in His Kingdom. So stop thinking ministry means becoming someone else. Ministry is God using the “you” He made, but refined by His Spirit.

Sometimes believers say, “I don’t know what to do in church.” Well, ministry is not always about the church building. Look around—there is always someone to encourage, someone to pray for, or someone who needs your smile. Even Paul did not do everything himself; he had different people serving in different capacities. God’s house is not built by spectators but by contributors.

Imagine if your local church had 100 members and 90 of them just showed up on Sundays to sit and watch, how would the church grow? Ministry is like football—you cannot win if 11 people play and 80,000 fans only clap. You were not saved to be a fan in the stands. You were saved to serve on the field.

The earlier we realize that, the faster we grow in Christ. Ministry is not a burden, it is actually the most fulfilling life. The joy of serving outweighs the sacrifice.

Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You for making me Your masterpiece. I confess that I am saved to serve, not saved to spectate. I choose to walk in the good works You prepared for me. I am a faithful servant in Your Kingdom. Amen!
