Grace is Not a Free Pass to Be Stupid

Key Text: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid…”

Let’s talk about sin despite being under grace. You see, many believers sincerely love Jesus, speak in tongues, and still behave like some little sins are a harmless hobby. The truth is, grace does not mean sin no longer matters. Grace means sin no longer has the power to condemn you eternally, but it can still have the power to delay you painfully. You are forgiven, yes. But you can still suffer consequences. Being blood washed does not mean you are consequence proof. Salvation removes hell from your future, but sin can still bring unnecessary stress into your present.

Sin is not just a spiritual issue. It is also a practical issue. For example, if a believer keeps lying, people will stop trusting them. Even if they pray for favor, favor will not sit comfortably on a reputation that is leaking like a basket. If a believer is sleeping around, they may be forgiven, but they may also collect emotional wounds, shame, confusion, unwanted pregnancy, or diseases. Grace will cover you spiritually, but it will not erase every earthly outcome. God can restore, but why create extra problems that require extra restoration?

Think of sin like pouring sand into your car engine. The car still belongs to you, it is still a good car, and you are still the rightful owner. But it will start making strange sounds, slow down, and eventually stop. That is how sin works. You can still be a believer and be saved, but you will wonder why life feels stuck. Sometimes the devil is not even fighting you. You are the one sabotaging yourself while shouting “It is my season!” God is faithful, but He also expects wisdom. Grace is not a permission slip to live anyhow. Grace is empowerment to live better.

Prayers and Confession
Father, thank You for the gift of grace through the blood of Jesus. I receive strength to live above sin. I declare that I am not a slave to sinful habits. I walk in wisdom, purity, and self control. I refuse to sabotage my destiny. By the Spirit of God, I overcome every temptation and I progress in the path of righteousness. In Jesus name, Amen.
