Remember those in Bonds
Hebrew 13:3
” Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.”
Many a times, we are so much in comfort and satisfaction that we often forget to remember those in bonds for the course of the gospel – Bonds of words and slanders, bonds of affliction for standing for the truth.
The writer of Hebrew is saying to remember them. How do we do this? We pray for such men. The early Church folks did this, when there was intense persecution going on, they prayed ” And now, Lord, behold their threatening: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word” (Acts 4: 29).
Paul requested that prayer also be made for him and his companions. In 2Thessalonians 3:1&2, he says, Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
This should be something we do often. Though you can say you arent part of those who face the intense persecution, however it does not exempt you praying. The prayer we pray keeps the truth of the gospel spreading. Hence, make it a duty and be responsible in praying for them.
