The Greatest Commandment

John 13:34

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. ”

One will wonder why is Jesus giving a new commandment, Christ death abolished the Law (Rom. 10:4), so why giving another commandment? The believer is supposedly not to be longer under law.

Yes a believer is no longer under the Law but still under a law. The law a believer is under is the Law of the Spirit, this is the law that set us free.” For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8: 2)

This Law of the Spirit is Love. What governs us as believers is Love. We are under the obligation to love everyone just as Christ as loved us. Paul says in Romans 13:8 (NLT) Owe nothing to anyone except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of Gods law.

John says that the prove that we have passed from death to life is when we love (1Jn 3:14). In other words, the law of the new covenant is love and we are obliged to do it. More of the instructions we see in the Epistles is to WALK IN LOVE. Hence, Let this be our clothing each time.

CONFESSION

I have my Father’s nature
I walk in Love each time of my life
I’m a lover.
Hallelujah!
