Ecclesiastes 5:2
“Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few”.
It’s erroneous to think as believers that our prayers are answered because of its lengthiness. It is this mindset that leads many into using vain repetitions in prayers (Matthew 6:7), and too much words leads to sin and in prayer such sin could be sin of unbelief. Many times, things we ask for in prayers are what God already provided for us in Christ that we need to appropriate into our lives following God’s principle on such matters as stated in His word.
All through scripture, it is established that we should bridle our tongue and todays scripture made us to understand that even in the presence of God (in prayer as it were), its important we know that we are more blessed hearing from God than making hasty statements either in our heart or mouth.
Things to note;
Length of prayer does not equal devotion.
God doesn’t hear prayers just because its long.
Long prayers aren’t forbidden, its just not a yard stick for answered prayers.
