Live Out Your Identity

Devotional Reading: “In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.” Matthew 5:48 MSG

The elementary stage of Christianity supplies every believer the understanding of knowing that whoever is in Christ is a new creature and hence, live by the life of Christ. However, not everyone have the full understanding of the implications of this.

Our opening scripture which is popularly quoted from the KJV says, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect.” This statement was uttered by our Lord Jesus Christ and you will believe with me that He wouldn’t ask and expect us to do that which He knows it’s impossible. This means one needs to know what exactly it is to be perfect like the father in heaven is. The pericope of the text began from verse 43 and it’s discovered that to be perfect is to love everyone regardless; the good and the bad.

Being perfect in this context do not connote being without fault or sin; it isn’t a case of sinless perfection as many claimed it to be and thereby concluding it isn’t possible. Every believer is a product of God’s love and He expects us to love others just as he did towards us regardless of our deeds. It’s inbuilt, you can show love to everyone because you are kingdom subject and God expects you to live out your identity.

Decide today to be an ambassador of God’s love.

Prayer and Confession

I am a product of God’s love, I do not struggle with loving others, The love of Christ is shed abroad in me.

Hallelujah
