Jesus, Our Location and Identity

Devotional Reading: ‘The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10

Towers in ancient time and world were built primarily for protection of crops and cities. The defense department watches over the city right from there, armed and always ready to alert the city and importantly, defend them from any threat of the enemy. For as long as the city tower exist, the inhabitants of such cities are reminded that some persons are watching over them and it gives a sense of safety. Tower symbolizes protection, safety, planning and skilled design in the bible. The more towers a city has, the more safety is expected.

Our anchor scripture refers to the name of the Lord as a strong tower. This reveals to us that the name of the Lord is a place that could accommodate as many people who will come into Him. In the New Testament, we understand the name of the godhead to be Jesus Christ and it is highly exalted above every other names and at the name of Jesus every knees bows and all tongue confess Him to be Lord. This implies, that all enemies who approaches one who has made his dwelling in the Tower (Jesus) is defeated, because in Him there is safety.

You need no other Tower aside Jesus. The challenge now is, do you trust Him enough to keep you from evil? Only in Jesus can you be save and safe, now and forevermore. Trust Him, rely on Him and stay at peace in Him.

Prayer and Confession

Only in Jesus do I have safety. I run to Him and rely on Him. My faith looks up to Him always. And I am protected. Amen
