Unchecked Appetite

Devotional Reading: “Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles, went to the chief priests and asked, “How much will you pay me to get Jesus into your hands?” And they gave him thirty silver coins.” (Matthew 26:14&15 TLB)

Over the years, man has been faced with series of concerns and temptations which has been found to be rooted in the desires of the heart. Scripture says, “Temptation is the pull of man’s own evil thoughts and wishes”- James 1:14TLB.

The anchor text is a statement made by Judas; the betrayal, one of the twelve disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. One who has been with the Lord but never allowed the teachings of Christ to have effect on his life and eventually he became an agent of fulfilment of evil prophecy. Scripture reveals that, he was placed in charge of Jesus’ account and has been helping himself with the funds therein (John 12:6). Judas exhibited various attributes; he was a thief, a liar, one full of anger and lastly, he committed treason.

In our present time also, many who have professed to be the disciples of Christ now are betraying Jesus by despising wholesome biblical teachings all because of the love for sudden wealth, love for possession and survival due to the present economic situation.

The question the Holy Spirit is asking you this day is, in what ways have you been compromising also? That which you’ve got appetite for. You know if you wouldn’t let go of it, it might end in the Judas’s way. Why not let it go and trust God completely, contemplating on Jesus and Him crucified.

Prayer and Confession
I receive grace to let go of every habit that is against the wholesome teaching of God which is a potential tool for my destruction. My life will not fulfil evil prophesy in Jesus name. Amen.
