Receiving God’s Call

Devotional Reading: The word of the Lord came to me: I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:4-5HCSB

Our opening text reveals how the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, telling him of how He (God) had chosen him long before he was formed in the womb, set him apart before he was born, and appointed him a prophet unto the nations. Whether it was in a vision, by a strong witness in his heart or audibly, the Bible didn’t tell us.

However, it was crystal clear that Jeremiah heard it clearly from God. He couldn’t deny that God spoke to him about his plan for his life. The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah revealed to him that God has called and ordained him to be his prophet unto the nations. When anybody asks him his purpose on earth, he will tell them that God has appointed him to be a prophet unto the nations.

Nobody living on the surface of this earth is an accident. For every person born on earth, God knows about us. God has a unique plan and purpose for every one born on the earth’s surface. God has a plan and purpose for your life. Getting to know what you were created for is known as receiving God’s call. You don’t get to know what you were created to do simply by reading books or maximizing your talents.

You discover it because it has already been mapped down before you were born. You get to know what you were created for through making inquiries from the one who created you (that is, God, your father).

Even though in our world today, receiving God’s call is often used in the context of those entering into ministry work to be either a pastor, Evangelist or Teacher and so on, the truth God wants you to know is that receiving God’s call has to do with knowing and accepting the plan and purpose of God for your life.

Many Christians often find it challenging to ascertain God’s plan and purpose for their life. However, the simple truth God wants you to embrace today is that you can only get to know the details of his plans and purpose for your life as you intentionally build intimacy with him (God) through consistent communion.

God wants to reveal his plan for your life much more than you are desperate to know. It only takes a man who will build intimacy with God to get to know the mind of God, his plans, and the purpose of his life.

Are you still confuse about the specificity of the plan and purpose of God for your life? Get to build intimacy with the Lord. Do you think you know about God’s plan and purpose for your life? I dare to tell you that there are more details to his plans for your life that you are yet to see. The more you build intimacy with him, the more you go deeper into the plan and purpose of God for your life.

Prayer and Confession
You have good plans and purpose for me, Lord. Help me to prioritize building intimacy with you, Lord.
