Following God’s Plan For Your Life

Devotional Reading: Moses assumed his fellow Israelites would realize that God had sent him to rescue them, but they didn’t.

Moses knew earlier in life that the plan and purpose of God for his life had to do with delivering the Israelites from the oppression of the Egyptians. However, he probably did not inquire further about how the Lord will accomplish this task through him. He took things into his hands and assumed in his mind that his brothers, the Israelites would understand that God would give them deliverance through him, however, they did not understand. He nearly lost his life in the process.

The story of Moses’ life is similar to some of us. God has given you a clue to into his plan and purpose for your life, however, we don’t wait for more details. We, sincerely, just sail into action, trying to get things done all in the name of following God’s plan for our lives. We strategize, make plans, and do things because we human beings are action-oriented. We just want to do.

God is not against planning or strategizing. He loves it because he is the grand boss of planning and strategizing. When you look at creation works, the configuration of our body anatomy, the plan of salvation, and many other events, you will realize that God is a master planner and strategizer.

Moses knew what he was born to do: the vessel God would use in bringing deliverance to the Israelites from the oppression of the Egyptians. God already gave him the knowledge, just like you somehow have a clue into the overview of what God wants to do with your life here on earth.

However, the story of how Moses journeyed implies that while God might have revealed unto us his plan and purpose for our lives, wisdom demands that we wait on him to inquire further as to how the plan will be carried out. Wisdom demands that we inquire further for instructions towards fulfilling God’s plan for our lives. There are more details to the plan and purpose of God for your life than the overview you’ve seen. We must learn to allow God to take the initiative before we think of moving; else we might make a mess of it, which can be very costly.

While God might have revealed to us his mandate for our lives, we must know that that mandate is God’s and must be done in God’s own way. Any attempt to fulfill the mandate without following God’s own pattern will result in failure. God’s assignment must be done in God’s way.

The truth is that every person God has called are working towards the same purpose; the only difference is that the way God might have us go about it might differ. God’s word says there are different ministries but the same Lord. You will realize that after Moses had learnt his lessons when God gave him the instruction to building the tabernacle, he built it exactly according to what God had shown him. He was not just being zealous without knowledge this time around. He was diligent enough to do according to what God was telling him per time.

You also need to learn to pray to always know and follow God as he will be leading you in the actualization of his plan and purpose for your life. God’s assignment must be done in God’s way. Inasmuch as God desires an end result, he is much more particular about the process and the how. Your faithfulness in following God diligently towards fulfilling his plan and purpose for your life will determine your success with God. Be wise.

Help me Lord to always be patient and diligent in following your plans and purpose for my life.
