Changed Association

By Kayode Emmanuel

Devotional Reading: “And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.”- Acts 9:26-28 KJV

In the world of business, certain things must be understood and never to be joked with for anyone who desires maximum profit. One of such is the location of industry and localization. Industries that involves in production or rendering of similar goods and services understands that they must be together and not apart. That in itself, helps the growth of both new and existing businesses.

So also in the spiritual, no one can grow in isolation as the scriptures says, irons sharpens irons and admonishes us never to forsake gathering of believers as is the habit of some. For anyone who is genuinely saved, by default and with time, his association is meant to reflect his new found faith. Old close associates will on their own loose interest in you because of the change in thinking pattern, desires, and focus, inasmuch as their masters differs.

If your case is otherwise; if you still enjoy keeping company with unbelievers as it was before you got saved, you should examine yourself whether or not you are in the faith.

Prayer and Confession
I am planted and firmly rooted in the vineyard of the Lord. I live and grow in the atmosphere of love where people of like minds are. Together we learn and grow in the knowledge of God. Amen
