God Gives

Devotional Reading: Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17 NLT

Giving can be a hard thing to do. There may have been times when a friend, family, or stranger asked you for financial support and it was hard to provide for any number of reasons. Someone might ask to your home for something because they don’t have the space themselves. Maybe a friend needs a ride because you have a car and they don’t. Which ever, someone just needs your something from which they don’t have. Giving your money, time, or resources can be a hard thing to do, but as Christians, it is a way to reflect God‘s love. God is the perfect example of a giving heart.

The Creator of heaven and earth gave all of humanity a purpose. God is not a hoarder of his love and power – he gives freely, and he wants us to be givers too. The most significant gift of all was Jesus.

The Son of God is the perfect example of how to love the Father with all your heart, soul, and mind. Jesus not only gave his time and heart, but he demonstrated his love for us when he took our place on the cross. He gave his life not just for you but for all of humanity. Looking at God’s heart will allow your heart to be transformed.

Prayer and Confession
God, thank you for all that you have given me. I pray that I will declare your goodness to those around me so that they may see how good you are to them. Amen.
