Reason For Faith – Agree With God

Devotional Reading: ‭‭Job 22:21 ESV‬‬
“Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you.

The first and primary reason for faith is for us to learn how to agree with God. Most quarrels between friends occur not necessarily out of hatred, but because one person did something the other detests or pressed the wrong button. The friends you enjoy the most are people who do things you like, and you keep walking together. Likewise, what keeps you and God walking together is faith.

A pastor was praying for someone and said, “When I lay hands on you, the power of God will hit you and you will be healed.” The pastor laid his hands on the person and said, “You are healed!” Then he asked the person, “Are you healed?” The person replied, “No, the pain is still there.” The pastor said to the person, “The word of God says by the stripes of Jesus you are healed.”

Who do you agree with? Do you agree with the pain in your body, your circumstances, or the word of God? The problem is that we Christians agree with our circumstances to be factual and real about what we are going through because we don’t want to tell lies, but we are already lying spiritually.

The purpose of faith and the power of God is to change the circumstances we don’t want, but are facing us, and if they will change, we must agree with God so He can change them. In plain terms, agreeing with God and His word and walking with him is the first reason for faith.

Prayer and Confession
Lord, thank You for showing me the primary reason for faith. Help me to agree with your word for me so I can have a better walk with You daily in Jesus’ name. Amen!
