Understanding the Power Within

Devotional Reading: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” – Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

When a person becomes born again, God doesn’t leave them powerless. He deposits His Spirit inside them. That Spirit is full of life, wisdom, boldness, healing, and supernatural power. But many believers walk around feeling weak or unsure of themselves, not because they lack power, but because they are unaware of what they carry. It’s like someone having a bank account full of money but not knowing how to access the money… what’s in the account is useless until accessed.

The Bible says in Ephesians 3:20 that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. This means the power of God isn’t working from heaven down; it’s working from inside you out. That’s a game-changer. You’re not waiting on God to move—you’re moving with what He already placed in you.

Let’s say someone gave you a phone with data and airtime credited in there, but you left it unused. You’ll keep borrowing phones to make calls and complaining about being disconnected, not knowing you already have what you need. That’s how many Christians treat the Holy Spirit within them.

The first step to exercising God’s power is recognition—acknowledging what you carry. Philemon 1:6 says the communication of your faith becomes effective by acknowledging every good thing in you in Christ. If you don’t know what you have, you won’t use it. Know this: you carry the power of God. You’re not ordinary. You’re loaded with divine ability.

Prayer and Confession
I carry the power of God inside me. I am not powerless. God’s Spirit dwells in me, and I am equipped to live victoriously and make a difference in my world. Amen!
