Keep Speaking Life Over Your Dreams

Devotional Reading: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” — Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

The words you speak over your dreams matter a lot. Proverbs 18:21 in the Message Translation says, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.” If you constantly say, “It will never happen,” or “Maybe I’m not good enough,” you are unknowingly killing the dream. God wants you to speak words of life, hope, and faith over what He has shown you.

Imagine a farmer who plants yam but keeps saying, “This yam won’t grow, it’s a waste of time.” How motivated do you think he’ll be to water it or weed the farm? Negative words kill motivation and faith. On the other hand, when you declare God’s promises—even when you don’t feel like it—you align yourself with heaven’s plans.

Jesus Himself said that if we speak to mountains, they will move (Mark 11:23). Your words are powerful weapons. Instead of complaining about how hard it is, start declaring, “God’s promises will come to pass over me, my dreams will come to pass. God is faithful. I will not give up!” When you speak like this, you build your own faith.

When you feel discouraged, keep declaring God’s promises. Say what God says about you, not what fear says. Keep your words full of hope and expectation.

So keep your words in agreement with God’s promises, and you’ll see those dreams come alive.

Prayer and Confession
I speak life to my dreams. I agree with what God says about my future. Further declare the promises and the dreams He has painted in your heart.
