Small Beginnings Are Still Beginnings

Devotional Reading: “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.” — Job 8:7 (KJV)

Many dreams start small. Don’t be discouraged if what you see right now looks tiny compared to what you envision. In Zechariah 4:10, the Bible says, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” God loves it when we take even tiny steps toward the big dream He placed in our hearts.

Maybe your dream is to start a ministry, an NGO or a movement that will impact thousands and millions, but right now, you can barely organize a meeting with 10 people. Or perhaps you see yourself running a large company one day, but for now, you’re just managing a small table at the local market. It’s easy to feel like giving up when your beginning looks nothing like your dream.

Think about David. Before he became the king of Israel, he was just a shepherd boy looking after a few sheep. His skills at fighting lions and bears in the fields prepared him to face Goliath later. Small stages are not a waste—they are training grounds. Every skill, lesson, and experience adds up.

Your dream may not look big today, but small steps matter. God is watching and rejoicing over every small step you take. He sees the hidden work you are doing.

Today, hold your head high and say: “Even small steps are steps forward.” Keep showing up, doing your best, and trusting that God will multiply your little into much.
