Dreams Are Often Tested Before They Are Fulfilled

Devotional Reading: Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him. — Psalm 105:19 (KJV)

One thing many people don’t realize is that before the dream God gives you comes to pass, it is usually tested. Just because you’re facing struggles doesn’t mean the dream is dead. It might actually be a sign that it’s alive! Joseph had a dream of greatness, but before he got to the palace, he was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and thrown into prison. Talk about a rough journey!

Always know this: The hard moments are not signs to quit—they’re preparation for what’s coming.

Sometimes, tests come to humble us, strengthen us, and prepare our hearts to handle the blessing when it arrives. If Joseph had moved straight from the dream to the throne, he might not have been able to handle the weight of leadership. The prison experience built his character. Likewise, the troubles you face now are building muscles you’ll need later.

Don’t despise the hard seasons. They are part of the journey. It’s like a tree filled with edible fruits: before you enjoy sweet fruit, there’s a long season of nurturing, pruning, and watering. You might not like the process, but you’ll love the harvest. Trust that God is using every struggle to set you up for the dream’s fulfillment.

Tell yourself that “Tests are not the end—they’re part of the story.” Stay the course and trust that God is faithful to complete what He started in you.

Prayer and Confession
Father, give me the strength to endure the tests that come with the dreams You placed in me. Help me not to faint. Amen
