Recognizing People God Uses to Give You Instructions

Devotional Reading: “Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” – 2 Chronicles 20:20 (NKJV)

One way the Holy Ghost communicates with us is through people—pastors, spiritual mentors, friends, or even strangers. Recognizing when God is speaking through someone is vital. Many have ignored divine words because they didn’t like the vessel God used.

Naaman almost lost his healing because the instruction came through a prophet’s messenger instead of the prophet himself (2 Kings 5). Also, God used the lepers to bring about Israel’s abundance from their famine in 2 Kings 7. God can speak through a person you think is “beneath” you, or in a tone you weren’t expecting. The question is—can you hear the message even when the method feels uncomfortable?

Discernment is key. Not every person is sent by God, but when someone speaks what aligns with Scripture, confirms what the Holy Ghost has been stirring in you, and brings peace to your spirit, pay attention. It might be your moment of transformation.

Be humble enough to listen. Sometimes, one conversation can unlock your next season. Don’t let pride or familiarity block your ear. When your spirit senses it’s God, act on it quickly.

Prayer and Confession
Lord, help me to recognize when You’re speaking through others. Give me humility to receive Your instruction regardless of who You use. Let me not miss my moment because I judged the messenger. Keep my spirit sharp and teachable. Amen!
