In 2026, Be Consistent, Not Just Inspired
Devotional Reading: “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22 KJV
One major lesson this year’s devotionals have quietly screamed is this truth. Inspiration is cheap, but consistency is costly. Many believers are spiritually excited but practically unchanged. We love messages that make us feel powerful, but we struggle with practices that actually make us powerful. Hearing the Word without doing it is like buying exercise equipment and using it as furniture. It looks impressive in the house, but nothing changes in the body.
The Bible gives us a clear picture through Peter. He did not walk on water because he had confidence in himself. He walked because he acted on what Jesus said. If Peter had waited to feel brave or see the waves calm down, he would have remained in the boat discussing faith instead of experiencing it. Consistency often looks boring. Reading the Bible daily does not always feel dramatic. Praying regularly does not always come with goosebumps. But over time, these quiet habits produce loud results.
As we prepare for 2026, decide to stop chasing spiritual highs and start building spiritual habits. Ten minutes with God every day will outlive three emotional moments in a year. Consistency trains your spirit to respond to God naturally, not occasionally. If you wait until you feel inspired, you will grow in feelings but not in faith. Do the Word even when it feels ordinary, and your life will become extraordinary.
Prayer and Confession
Lord, I receive grace to be consistent in my walk with You. I choose obedience over excitement and discipline over convenience. I am a doer of the Word, and my life produces lasting fruit. Amen!
