STOP PROPHESYING YOUR FEARS
Key Text: “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” Job 3:25
Fear has a way of borrowing your mouth and making announcements you never intended to make. Sometimes we say things like, “I know something will go wrong,” “This thing will probably fail,” or “I am sure I will disappoint everyone,” and then wonder why our hearts have no peace. Job’s story reminds us that fear can become so loud that a person begins to speak more about what they dread than about what God has said. Your fear may be real, but it does not deserve to become the prophet of your future.
Notice that Scripture does not teach us to pretend that fearful situations do not exist. David saw Goliath, but he refused to describe the giant as bigger than God; he declared that the Lord would deliver him. David did not deny the size of Goliath, he simply put Goliath in the correct position. In everyday life, this may mean saying, “This challenge is serious, but God will give me wisdom,” instead of, “This challenge will destroy me.” That small change in language can reveal a much bigger change in what you are allowing to occupy your heart.
Be careful what you repeatedly rehearse because your mouth can train your heart to expect the wrong thing. If every conversation about your future is filled with fear, defeat and worst case scenarios, eventually you may begin to approach opportunities already expecting failure. Faith does not say, “Nothing bad can ever happen”; faith says, “Whatever happens, God remains faithful, and I will trust Him.” So today, retire fear from the microphone and let faith have something to say!
Prayer and Confession
Father, I surrender my fears to You. I refuse to allow fear to become the voice that interprets my future. I choose to speak words of faith, hope and confidence in Your faithfulness. Even when I do not know how everything will work out, I know that You are with me and You are able to lead me. My future will not be governed by fear but by faith in God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
