RIGHTEOUSNESS CONSCIOUSNESS 4
Key Text: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
Have you ever needed something from someone but spent twenty minutes rehearsing how to ask because you were not sure whether they would say yes? Sometimes believers approach God like that, as though they need to first impress Him before they can talk to Him. Righteousness consciousness changes this because you know that your access to God is based on Christ, not on your performance. You can come boldly because Jesus has already opened the door.
Prayer becomes different when you understand righteousness. You are not begging a reluctant God to notice you, nor are you trying to persuade Him to become good toward you. You are approaching your Father with the confidence of someone who knows they belong there. Just as a child can walk into the house and say, “Daddy, I need your help,” you can approach God with confidence because you have received the gift of righteousness in Christ.
This confidence does not mean that God becomes your personal vending machine where you press a button and demand whatever you want. It means you can pray with assurance, submit your desires to His will, and trust His wisdom even when His answer is different from what you expected. Righteousness consciousness removes the unnecessary fear of rejection and teaches you to remain in fellowship with God. You can pray when things are going well, pray when things are confusing, and even pray after you have made a mistake because your access is secured in Christ.
Prayers and Confession
I declare that I have confidence before God. I pray with faith, I listen with expectation, and I trust God’s wisdom. My relationship with God is not based on my performance but on the finished work of Christ.
Reflection
When I pray, do I approach God like a welcomed child or like a stranger trying to gain entrance?
