RIGHTEOUSNESS CONSCIOUSNESS 3
Key Text: “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17
The way you see yourself will greatly influence the way you live. If you constantly see yourself as a failure, a spiritual weakling, or someone who is always getting things wrong, your actions will eventually follow that picture. Righteousness consciousness gives you a new picture of yourself because God no longer sees you based on your old identity but through Christ. You are not trying to convince yourself that you are valuable; you are learning to see yourself the way God already sees you.
Imagine someone who has been given a new name but keeps introducing themselves by their old nickname from secondary school. That would be funny, but many believers do something similar spiritually. God says, “You are righteous,” yet they keep saying, “I am just a sinner trying to survive.” Righteousness consciousness does not mean pretending that you have no weaknesses; it means refusing to let your weaknesses become your identity. You can acknowledge where you need growth without insulting yourself in the process.
This revelation also changes how you handle opportunities. When you believe you are disqualified, you may reject opportunities that God is placing before you because you are waiting to feel good enough. But righteousness consciousness teaches you to depend on God’s grace while developing your abilities and taking responsibility for your growth. You can say, “I may not know everything yet, but I know God is at work in me,” and that mindset can take you much further than constantly reminding yourself of everything you cannot do.
Prayers and Confession
I declare that I am righteous in Christ, accepted by God, valuable, capable, and empowered by grace. I am growing, learning, and becoming all that God has called me to be. I will not disqualify myself from what God has qualified me for. Amen.
