Daily Denying Self
Devotional Reading: “And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].” Luke 9:23 Amp.
Anyone who confesses with his mouth the Lord Jesus, and believes in his heart that God hath raised Jesus from the dead shall be saved. To be Lord is to accord one with right of preeminence, to whom service and obedience are due, one who owns a property.
Jesus, having declared in the early verses of our anchor text his agenda according to the scriptures; to die for the sins of humanity and reconcile humankind back to God. He declared to his disciples what could be regarded as conditions of service in today’s language. Anyone who desires to follow Him must of necessity lose sight of himself, identify with the cross by daily carrying it, living a life patterned in the example of Christ, giving our all.

Losing sight of oneself is clearly explained in the MSG translation bible, “anyone who intend to come with me has to let me lead, you are not in the driver’s seat – I am.” This clearly indicates that for every true Disciples of Christ, we do not have a life of our own as it were, we should live our lives in conformity to His will, where we have no different desires from His.
Decide today never to do anything contrary to the desire of the Lord. Before any action, program yourself to always ask, “What will God have me do?” He is your father and He will sure lead you because He is in charge, not you.
Prayer and Confession
God, the Father if our Lord Jesus Christ, I submit to your Lordship, Lead me and guide me with all my heart In Jesus name. Amen.
