Sharing Your Faith
Psalms 96:2-3 TPT
Don’t stop! Keep on singing! Make his name famous! Tell everyone every day how wonderful he is. Give them the good news of our great Savior. Take the message of his glory and miracles to every nation. Tell them about all the amazing things he has done.
When it comes to sharing our faith that is the gospel of our salvation, what Jesus did for humanity, it becomes very awkward to some people and infact some people get scared. Not that they don’t desire to, but they just couldn’t find the flow of it.
Often times we feel that to be effective in sharing our faith we have to create complex illustrations and memorize a seminary-worthy number of verses. But the gospel is most powerful when shared with love, clarity, and most importantly simplicity (Christ died, He was buried and He rose again). The reason is that you want the gospel message to be simple enough that when you share it with someone, if they put their faith in Christ for salvation, they can turn around and share that same message with someone else.
The beautiful thing is that God has created natural rhythms that can help even the clumsiest person glide into gospel conversations. You already have familiar rhythms in your life; friends, work, hangouts etc.— 99.9% of us find ourselves around that rhythm.
More often than not, we always hear our unbelieving friends describes the following as symptoms of what their life is; “I’m lonely. I’m suffering from a broken relationship. I’m stressed. There’s darkness within me that I don’t know what to do with.” So, how do we share Christ with someone who is overwhelmed with their symptoms? We know the ultimate cure. It’s Jesus Christ. Jesus didn’t die for their symptoms. He died for their sins. Yet, people don’t wake up in the morning and think, “You know, I need to accept Jesus.” They wake up with the symptoms, and so as people who are attempting to rescue those who are lost, we need to start with their symptoms, show them the disease (sin), and take them to the ultimate cure (Jesus).
