Peaceful Always
Acts 12:6
“And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison”.
In life, it isn’t what happens that’s of great importance but how we handle such experiences. So also, in our lives as individual, the degree to which we trust God is the degree to which we experience peace. Christ already says in his word that he has given us his peace, which indeed its not as the worlds. Now, for everyone to experience such peace is dependent on the words and promises of God we could harness.
Peter being in prison wouldn’t allow anything weigh down his spirit, he trusted God with his life and answered the call of nature to sleep even in a condition threatening to his life; in chains and between two soldiers. Just as Jesus could also sleep in the storm, so we see Peter doing likewise. These two experiences affirms the words of David in Psalms 127:2 “… for God gives rest to his loved ones”.
The word of the Lord to us this day is that, in all we go through, we should not allow the devil steal our peace and joy, our heart should rest on his promises and whether or not we live, we are of God. Being perturbed is a sign of lack of trust in God and his word..
CONFESSION
I have the peace of God in me,
I refuse to be perturbed,
Neither do I bow my heart in sorrow.
Amen.
