A Mark of Honour
Proverbs 20:3NLT
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.
We are in a world where offence abounds. Somebody somewhere must just step on your toes or even you too for whatsoever reason stepped on someone else’s toes which if care is not taking will result into fight or unprofitable arguments.
God’s word admonishes us not to be found engaging in a fight or useless arguments. God’s word says avoiding a fight is actually a mark of honour. Yes it is. We are children of God, children of peace. We are peace makers not fighters. Hence it’s a honourable thing on our part to avoid fights or quarrel. Although this might means giving up on some of our rights just for the sake of peace to reign. Moreso, there is always a better way of resolving issue other than fighting or quarrelling.
God’s word went further to tell us that it is only fools that will insist on quarrelling. Of course you are not a fool, you are wise. Jesus has been made wisdom unto us. Most importantly, fighting and engaging in quarrels with people is alien to our identity as God’s children.
Dearly beloved, avoiding a fight is a mark of honour, only fools insist on quarrelling. Quarrelling will never produce the kind of result you really desire. They are born of anger. James 1:20 NLT says Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
Live a honorable life for you are a being of honor.
