Grow in Grace
2 Peters 3:18 NIV
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
The angel of the Lord said to Joseph in Matthew 1:21NIV that “She(Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
God’s word also says in Titus 2:11NKJV that “the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.”
The grace of God that brings salvation to all men is actually the knowledge of Jesus Christ as the one who died for our sins and was raised from the dead for our justification.
Hence, to grow in grace according to our text today is to grow in your knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord who is our saviour. It means to grow in your understanding of Jesus and His accomplishment for us through His death and resurrection. This is the only way through which a believer can grow spiritually.
Your spiritual growth is actually measured by your level of understanding of Jesus our saviour and His accomplishment for us.
This is the knowledge that will actually take you into walking worthy of who you are in Christ. This is the knowledge that will help you live your life in the way that brings praise and is pleasing unto God.
Beloved, in Jesus you find the revelation of who God is and your own identity. Give yourself to the word daily, meditate on the person of Jesus and His accomplishments and let it motivate you into action. Your profiting will actually be evident to all.
