Praying for Others
Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
It is quite very obvious that in a believer’s life, one of the spiritual disciplines he or she cannot joke or trade with is his or her prayer life.
Prayer is not a choice for the believer but the ideal that should be part of our life. However, beyond praying for ourselves, there are several instructions from the scriptures to always pray for others. The Apostle Paul was characterized by this how that he never ceased praying for saints. Hence, showing us that, one of the best ways to love others is to pray for them. Jesus is our ultimate example in this. The New Testament tells us about Jesus praying for others on many occasions, and even shows us that He continues to come to the Father on our behalf. Romans 8:34 says that He is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Even after showing such selfless love at the cross, the risen and ascended Lord Jesus Christ continues to express His care for us by praying for us at this very moment.
It’s a responsibility therefore on the believer just as we see often in the book of Acts to pray for people especially those of the household of faith.
CONFESSION
I take the responsibility of praying for people.
I’m not selfish, I’m compassionate and I intercede.
Amen!
