Let God Order Your Steps
Devotional Reading: The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalms 32:8 NLT
As we usher in the New Year, we often make plans to change something in our lives, firmly resolving to do something differently. However, our plans often fall short or fail because we don’t follow the guidelines and directions and ultimately revert to our old ways and habits. After all, life is complicated.
We all need guidance and directions to follow because our world is a complex place. So, where do we seek advice? Many people are lucky to have Christian parents, family members, school counselors, or coaches to guide them. In contrast, others are less fortunate, having no one to give them counsel and direction, no less Christian-based guidance.
Most of us view social media influencers and reality TV shows as their guides for living. Others turn to friends, horoscopes, or earthly spiritual guides. However remember King Saul did something similar but didn’t bode well for him, who consulted a medium for advice instead of seeking the Lord’s guidance.
Understand this as we enter the new year that, it’s God’s nature to instruct and teach you willingly and to guide and counsel you with His loving eye on you.
Are you seeking God’s divine direction in all that you do, even in your New Years’ plans? God has complete knowledge of your circumstances and longs to instruct and teach you whatever situation you face, and His wisdom and guidance are always available. He never makes a mistake when guiding your steps. “The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes His steps.” (Proverbs 16:9).
Prayer and Confession
Lord, teach and guide me as I make plans and set my goals for the New year. Amen!
