Faith in the Goodness of God
Devotional Reading: And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Mark 5:34 KJV
Have you ever stopped to think about what God is really like? We can learn a lot again just like we did yesterday about what God is like from the woman who got healed of twelve years health problem.
From the story, after receiving her miraculous healing from Jesus, the woman discovers she cannot stay hidden in the crowd. Jesus realised that healing power had gone out from Him and was searching for the person who was healed. The woman falls on her knees before Jesus and tells her story.
How would Jesus respond to the woman? After all, she was ‘unclean’, she had interrupted Jesus on His way to help Jairus’ daughter, and she hadn’t even asked Him to be healed, she just went right ahead and touched His robe! Would Jesus be mad? Would He shame her in front of everyone for what she had done?
Jesus’ response is incredible, and it reveals so much about God’s heart towards us. The first word He says to her is “Daughter”. Just that word alone must have meant so much to someone who had been a social outcast for such a long time. In the middle of all the chaos, Jesus gives her His attention, accepts her as family, champions her faith, assures her of her healing and blesses her.
We can know with certainty that God is good, that He loves us, and that He is always available to those who come to Him in faith, not only to restore them, but to accept them and change their identity for good. So trust in His goodness.
Prayer and Confession
I may not see some things change yet in my situation, but I choose to trust in the goodness of God.
