Trust the Word

Devotional Reading: “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” Prov. 30:5

Whatever words that proceeds from the mouth of God, His prophets and an individual under divine inspiration is power packed and full of potential to effect a change. This is to say, all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2Tim 3:16). Little wonder the scripture says every jot of God’s word will be fulfilled before the word comes to an end.

The word of God being pure is a metaphor that emerged from the purifying of metals. This is to say, God’s word is pure, without mixture of error or any dross. In other words, the word is dependable and whatever trial it’s subjected and exposed to, it always come out with the desired intention; luster, purity and weight.

The second part of today’s text further reveals another important truth. Yes, the word of God is pure and it has a track record of never failing. But, to experience the power in God’s word, every individual must put trust in him. Hence, the degree to which God’s word delivers, shields the believer is based on which part of the word we put our trust in. For example, some believe the word can heal and they experience healing while others believe the word have the power to make them stay healthy and they enjoy this too (1Pet 2:24, Pro. 3:1-8).

Do you trust that he will never leave you nor forsake you as He has said (Heb. 13:5, Matt. 28:20)? Do you trust that he’ll supply all your needs according to his riches in glory (Phil. 4:19)? That’s just few out of many promises in the Word. The question is, “do you put your trust in the word?”

Prayer and Confession
I live by the truth of God’s word on a daily basis. The realities of God’s word finds full expression in my life. The Word guides and leads me henceforth. Amen
