Kingdom Lifestyle; Promoting Unity
By Kayode Emmanuel
Devotional Reading: “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1&3 NIV
Analogy of an earthly family was given yesterday where members will not deny one another because of differences in ideas, temperaments or behavior. But rather, continue in the spirit of love to allow for the differences, hoping and praying for a change.
If that is obtainable among those who are joined together just by human blood, how much more we who have come together in unity of faith provided by the sinless blood of Christ. That is, a spiritual union between God and his people, between Christ and his members, and between saints and saints, and the bond of each union is love; and that is which knits and cements us together. Apostle Paul, even while in prison admonished the people of Ephesus to strive and make every effort to keep the unity of faith.
‘To endeavor’ as used in the King James version is to use speed, to make effort, be prompt or earnest and be diligent in keeping the unity of faith by maintaining and seeking for things that bring peace among fellow believer. This is to say, no believer is excused from seeking to promote unity in the body of Christ. You should not be one who is into the ministry of criticism, especially the destructive one, the one which brings disunity in the body, but rather in all you do, promote unity.
Prayer and Confession
I make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. I am perfect as my heavenly father is because the love of Christ is shed abroad in my heart.
