Divine Speed; The Holy Spirit Advantage

Devotional Reading: And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. 1 Kings 18:46 KJV

My wife once shared a story of a woman who faced a 10-year wait after school before she could get a job and when she eventually did, she was given a top position at the company that employed her. The lesson from that story for me was that the woman refused to let those years go to waste. Seeking God’s guidance, she discovered that waiting isn’t about passivity, but about being intentional.

The Holy Spirit nudged and instructed her to start taking some important courses while continuing to apply for jobs, and she stayed determined to learn and grow. When the job offer finally came, God divinely accelerated her such that it was a top position in the organization that was given to her based on the certificates and qualifications she’d gathered during her waiting period.

From our anchor text, we see an incredible example of Divine acceleration, Elijah outran a chariot over a great distance. This wasn’t ordinary strength—it was supernatural empowerment. When God’s Spirit moves in your life, He enables you to accomplish what would otherwise be impossible.

In most cases, the Holy Spirit becomes an advantage and a divine assistance we need to fulfill God’s plans when it comes to divine speed and acceleration. Like Elijah, we must be positioned and ready to move when the Spirit gives instructions and nudges. Sometimes, this requires preparation of heart and obedience beforehand. Divine acceleration happens in partnership with God; we provide the faith, and He provides the power.

Reflect on areas where you’ve been relying on your strength instead of God’s power and choose to surrender those areas to Him today and ask for the Holy Spirit to propel you forward.

Prayer and Confession
I declare that the hand of the Lord is upon me, giving me supernatural strength and speed. By the power of His Spirit, I will run and not grow weary; I will walk and not faint. I trust God to propel me forward into His plans and purposes, overtaking every obstacle in my path. His wind of the Spirit is carrying me into divine acceleration.
