God is Able and More Than Capable

Devotional Reading: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” — 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV)

It’s easy to trust God for heaven, but not so easy to trust Him for daily needs; like bills, rent, and school fees. Yet, Paul starts this verse with a strong, bold truth: “And God is able…” That alone should shake off every doubt. He didn’t say God might be able, or God was able, He says God is able, right now, in your current mess.

God’s ability isn’t limited by your bank account, your qualifications, or who’s in power. He created the universe with words. That rent you’re worrying about? It doesn’t scare Him. That hospital bill? He’s not sweating. Sometimes we act like we need to beg God to be good, but this verse tells us He’s already willing and abundantly able.

Think of Abraham. He was old, Sarah was older, and they were both biologically out of options. But God was able, and Isaac came. Or consider the widow in 2 Kings 4. All she had was a tiny jar of oil and a big debt, but God was able, and He multiplied what she had. Ability isn’t just about what God can do, but what He will do for those who trust Him.

The issue is usually not God’s ability…it’s our confidence in His character. Today, take time to think about how powerful and able God really is. If He was faithful to people in the Bible, He won’t leave you hanging.

Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You because You are able. Even when I am weak, broke, or confused, You remain strong and able. Help me trust in Your power, not in my problems.
