Being a Witness
Devotional Reading: “These were his instructions to them: “Plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out more laborers to help you, for the harvest is so plentiful and the workers so few.” Luke 10:2 TLB
Jesus Christ left his throne and glory, came down in human flesh so as to reconcile men back unto God. This He achieved as millions of souls are already being filled with the life of God, yourself included and many will still be saved. However, the Lord Jesus in His word made us to understand that “wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” This is a clear indication that lives keeps thronging into destruction on daily basis despite the fact that there exist a provision for all humanity in Christ to be redeemed.
Many do not know about the saving grace of the loving God, thereby they keep on walking in darkness and journeying into eternity without Christ. From our opening scripture, Jesus sending forth the seventy made profounding statements; THE HARVEST IS SO PLENTIFUL, BUT THE WORKERS SO FEW! That tells us that, souls are ripe for harvest and there are no labourers to get them in into the fold and you know what happens to matured fruits that are not harvested.
Prayer is a vital tool for evangelism, no one argues that. However, from today’s passage, those whom Jesus already sent are those who He told to pray for more workers. Every believer is called into the ministry of reconciliation, it is our life’s assignment; preaching the Gospel to others. So, what we do is, we go and we pray. Are you intentionally going after sinners or all you do is to lazy around claiming you can only pray but cannot go get the harvest done? You are a missionary Christian, seize all opportunity you have to minister life to sinners around you today and henceforth.
Prayer and Confession
I am saved so I could arise for the salvation of others, I have been given the ministry of reconciliation. Therefore, I arise today and I preach the gospel of Christ to others. I receive strength for this glorious assignment in Jesus name. Amen.
