When Life Contradicts Prophecy
Devotional Reading: “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead… He staggered not at the promise of God.” Romans 4:19-20 KJV
One of the most confusing moments in a believer’s journey is when what God said and what life is saying do not look like relatives. Abraham had a promise but his body was preaching another sermon entirely. He had two choices: believe the report of God or believe the report of biology. Many times, God’s promises do not align with the “facts” around you. Facts are real, but prophecy is superior. When your reality contradicts your prophecy, it does not mean the prophecy is false, it means the fight has started.
Abraham handled contradictions by refusing to focus on what was not working. He acknowledged the facts, but he refused to let the facts dictate his faith. You can admit that things are tough without allowing your heart to surrender. Faith is not pretending. Faith is placing more weight on what God said than on what you see. The devil loves to use contradictions to discourage believers. The moment he makes you stare at the situation long enough, despair begins to grow. You combat that by keeping your gaze on the promise.
Every time life shouts, “It cannot happen,” your response should be, “God already said it will.” That is how you stand your ground. You refuse to stagger, you refuse to bow to the pressure, and you refuse to let temporary circumstances bully eternal truth. In the kingdom, contradictions are often signs that manifestation is around the corner.
Prayer and Confession
Lord, even when situations contradict what You have spoken, I choose to believe Your word. I refuse to stagger. My faith is strong, my heart is steady, and my eyes are fixed on Your promise. Amen!
