Wrong Company Distorts Clear Vision

Key Text: “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.” – Proverbs 13:20 KJV

One obstacle to God’s purpose is wrong association. Many believers pray for direction but take counsel from people who do not value God’s ways. We ask God for vision, then surround ourselves with voices that mock faith, discipline, and obedience. It is difficult to hear God clearly when everyone around you is shouting their opinions. Vision becomes blurry when too many unqualified voices are allowed to vote in your life.

The truth is that not everyone can walk with you into purpose, even if they love you. Some people are good for laughter but bad for direction. Others are supportive emotionally but spiritually careless. The Spirit may be leading you forward while your circle is comfortable staying the same. Lot loved Abraham, but his presence limited Abraham’s expansion. God had to separate them before increase could happen. Sometimes the obstacle is not what you are doing, but who you are doing life with.

The Holy Spirit removes this obstacle by stirring discomfort. Conversations stop feeding you. Certain environments no longer excite you. You begin to crave growth, depth, and wisdom. This is not pride. It is alignment. When the right people enter your life, clarity increases, courage strengthens, and purpose feels lighter. God uses people as pathways, but He also removes people who block progress.

Prayer and Confession
Father, give me discernment to recognize relationships that hinder Your purpose in my life. Grant me courage to make necessary separations and wisdom to build the right connections. Amen.

Who consistently pulls you closer to God and who pulls you away?
