From Adam to Christ

Key Text: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Many believers know they are forgiven, but few truly understand that they have become something entirely different. Salvation is not God repairing the old you like a mechanic fixing a broken car. It is God creating a brand new person in Christ. Adam gave us a fallen nature, but Jesus gives us a new nature. If a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, nobody expects it to keep crawling around like before. Yet many Christians still live as though Adam is their family head when Christ has already become their source and identity.

Think about it this way. If a prince was accidentally raised in a village and later discovered his royal identity, his wardrobe, speech, confidence, and lifestyle would eventually change. Not because he is trying to become a prince, but because he already is one. In the same way, the Christian life is not an attempt to become accepted by God. It is learning to live from the acceptance already received in Christ. The challenge is that your spirit was recreated instantly, but your mind still needs updates. Many believers are carrying the latest heaven software inside an old earth operating system.

This is why the New Testament constantly reminds believers who they are. The apostles spent less time telling believers to become something and more time telling them what they had already become. When temptation comes, when fear knocks, or when failure tries to define you, remember this simple truth: you are not fighting for a new identity; you are fighting from a new identity. Adam’s story may explain where humanity started, but Christ’s story explains where you now belong.

Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You for making me a new creation in Christ. I declare that my identity is no longer defined by my past, my mistakes, my family history, or my circumstances. I am born of God, accepted in Christ, and empowered by Your Spirit. Help me to see myself the way You see me and to live daily from the reality of who I have become in Jesus. Amen.
