Now Seated With Christ

Key Text: “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:6

Perhaps the most profound New Creation reality is not merely that Christ died for us, lives in us, or walks with us. It is that God has united us with Christ so completely that His story has become our story. When Christ died, we died with Him. When Christ was buried, our old man was buried with Him. When Christ rose, we rose with Him. And now, according to Scripture, we are seated with Him in heavenly places. This is not a future promise but a present spiritual reality. While your physical body may be sitting in your office, your spiritual position is in Christ, far above every authority, power, and dominion.

This reality is deeper than many believers realize. Most Christians think of themselves as people on earth trying to get heaven’s attention. The New Testament presents the opposite picture. We are people in Christ, operating from a heavenly position into earthly situations. Consider a king sitting on a throne. He is not running around anxiously trying to gain authority; he operates from authority because of his position. In the same way, prayer is not an attempt to convince God to do something He is unwilling to do. It is often the enforcement on earth of what Christ has already accomplished through His finished work.

The enemy wants believers to live from the perspective of the battlefield. God wants believers to live from the perspective of the throne. A person fighting from the battlefield sees giants, obstacles, inflation, bad reports, and impossible circumstances. A person living from his position in Christ sees those same challenges through the lens of God’s victory. The New Creation is not struggling beneath life’s circumstances. The New Creation is seated with Christ above them.

Prayer and Confession
Father, I thank You that I am united with Christ in His death, burial, resurrection, and exaltation. I declare that I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above every power of darkness, fear, limitation, and accusation. I refuse to see myself from an earthly perspective alone. I see myself as You see me in Christ. I walk in authority, confidence, and victory because of my union with Him. Amen.

When challenges arise, do you view them from the perspective of someone beneath them or from the perspective of someone seated with Christ above them?
