When a Christian Falls

Galatians 6:2

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

“And you call yourself a Christian?” This is what comes out in the mouth of most folks, even among the household of faith (believers). This is said because we see the saved man acting against his nature.

However, This isn’t right in any sense. A Christian is called; righteous (2cor.5:21) and Holy (1Cor.6:11, 1Pet.2:9) by God, none of this is by his own effort. Also he is not under any condemnation (Rom.8:1), Paul says he is a Spiritual man and he is judged of no man (1Cor. 2:15). Hence, you don’t condemn who God has not condemned, neither do you judge the Spiritual man when he is wrong.

What is expected of everyone who finds a wounded brother or sister is to build them up and straighten them up with the word of God. Paul in his speech to the Ephesians said, “I commend you to the word of grace which is able to build you up…” (Acts 20:32).

God’s word is what straightens the part of the man behaving against his nature, 2Tim 3:16 says, the Scriptures corrects and trains one up in righteousness. So what that individual needs is to be fed rightly the word of God.

We are to help each other, and not condemn the believer, this in itself is a direct love walk. Our text again reads “to bear each other’s burden, amplified version says Bear (endure, carry) one another’s burdens and troublesome moral faults, and he said in this way you fulfill and observe perfectly the law of Christ.”
