Guard Your Heart
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Proverbs says, guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Many things crowd the thought of men, reason been that we are exposed so much to a lot of things. Most of what we see, what we hear, what we say, what do stems from the heart.
However, for a believer, his thought should be filled with words of Christ. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Paul admonishes us, to ponder, to think, to fill our hearts with things that are honest, true, just… See how Message Translation puts it…
Philippians 4:8 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.
Let this be a daily consciousness. When we do this, we prevent our heart from being polluted.
CONFESSION
My Mind is constantly renewed with the word, I fill my heart with everything good. Amen!
