Created For Good Works
Ephesians 2:10 AMP
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
All that a believer ever need for life and Godliness has been deposited in him the moment he gets born again. Salvation is a gift from God, you don’t work for it, you had no part to play in getting yourself saved, not your good deeds not your services got you saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” ” Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” (Titus 3: 5)
By Pauls statement therefore, this grace received causes us to do the good deeds ordained by God. Our good deeds, our righteousness now as a believer is as a result of God who had worked in us, we do good not because we want to or because its right, but because we are God’s chosen ones and because we have him working in us giving us the desire to do what pleases him.
Hence, the proof of our faith as believers to others is to bring out the fruit of salvation received by the Spirit of God in us. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good work and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matt 5:16).
