You Have Been Made Clean

Written by Tosin Lawal

Ephesians 5:25-27

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,  and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Our texts today revealed how the Holy Spirit through Paul seemingly used Christ’s demonstration of love toward the church to teach how husbands should love their wives. God’s word says Christ loved the church and demonstrated this love by giving himself up for her in order that He might make her Holy and cleanse her.

Dearly beloved, all of Christ’s effort were to an expected end of presenting to himself a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle, or any other blemish but holy and blameless. Christ knew what he wanted. He knew the church couldn’t do this perfect work, the church couldn’t make herself radiant, holy, blameless, without stain or wrinkle. So what do you expect?  He did it all by Himself.

You are one of those that made up the church, for the church is a product of the demonstrated love of Christ. You have been made Holy and blameless, without wrinkle, spot or blemish. You have been made clean. Jesus did it all for you. This is worth shouting about. Glory to God.

CONFESSION

Jesus Christ’s demonstration of love made me Holy and blameless.
I am without wrinkle, spot or blemish. Hallelujah.
