Faith Asks For The Impossible

Devotional Reading: At that time Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still at Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” Joshua 10:12 ESV

In a battle against the Amorites, Joshua was fighting for victory and was desperate for a miracle — so he asked God to stop the sun from setting so Israel’s enemy could not escape in the dark. And God answered that prayer!

For a lot of us, our prayers are limited to asking God for a good day or having a safe trip. There’s nothing wrong with that, but that’s only scratching the surface of what God wants to do through your life.

This doesn’t mean God will answer every prayer with a “yes.” In fact, when God says “no” or “wait,” we should praise Him for those hard answers because they’re for our good.

God invites us to pour out our hearts to Him like we do with our closest friends. It’s an invitation to ask for things you believe are impossible — a healed relationship with your parents, a friend coming to church with you, or financial provision for something you want done.

Faith has the courage and boldness to ask God for what seems impossible — because what seems impossible to us is possible with God.

We challenge you to learn to live in the tension of believing God to do the impossible while also trusting Him to do what He deems best. Faith knows that sometimes the miracle is the sun stands still, and sometimes the miracle is you shine brighter in the dark.

Prayer and Confession
I am not fearful but full of faith, I choose to ask God for the impossible because I believe He is my Father who has all things.
