The Waiting Room 2

Devotional Reading: “Cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder” Romans 12:12 MSG

It is obvious that every individual, at one point or the other is waiting for something.

Abraham, the man described as the father of faith did a lot of waiting in his lifetime and can actually explain how difficult it can be to wait. Our text says “cheerfully expectant”, this suggests to us not to be sorrowful or downcasted in the waiting room. Waiting should not turn us to edgy people, it shouldn’t be an excuse to be rude or bitter towards people. Be cheerful, even in the waiting room.

Also, it says to be patient in tribulation, from the message translation it reads “Don’t quit in hard times”. I personally feel discouraged when the statement “I’m fed up” is made. Such a statement does not keep you going. Rather, it turns your focus away from God and suggests alternatives to you. This happened to Abraham and Sarah in their experience of the waiting room, where Sarah suggested Hagar as alternative for Abraham.

While in the waiting room, the same anchor text gave us a cogent instruction, Paul said, Pray all the more. I’d like to tell you that while at it, pray the word of God. Pray his promises into manifestation. Believe him and you’ll see the glory of the Lord.
Remember, sorting an alternative is a clear indication that you do not trust him enough! God bless you!

Prayer and confession
I trust the Lord with every of my challenges, I believe he’s gonna come through for me and at the perfect time.
