Hearing God 2

Devotional Reading: But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him. 1 Corinthians 6:17NLT
On the day you received Jesus into your life, the biggest miracle that could ever happen to any man on earth happened to you. The Spirit of God merged with your spirit for regeneration, and you became a child of God. God’s word says in 1 Corinthians 6:17NIV that “whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.” According to John 4:24, God is a spirit being. You are also a spirit being. Your being a child of God means your spirit has been united with the spirit of God. They are now one. You are one with the Lord. The implication of anyone being united to another person simply means no knowledge is hidden about either party to the other party. In other words, your born again spirit automatically knows everything in the spirit (mind) of God.
God communicates directly without any hindrance whatsoever to your spirit. Your spirit has full knowledge of God’s will. However, even though you are a spirit being, you also have a mind. 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Your mind (soul) is like an interface between your spirit and body. On the day of salvation, it was your spirit that God saved and became one with the Lord. Your mind didn’t get saved that day. Your mind doesn’t yet know all your spirit knows about God and His will for you.
Therefore, you have a constant duty to continually renew your mind with the truth of God’s word. Romans 12:2. The more you renew your mind with God’s word, the easier it becomes for you to recognize the will of God, which is good, pleasing, and perfect.
Hearing God for a child of God is the process of downloading from your spirit to your mind what the Lord has dropped there. Your spirit knows, but your mind doesn’t fully know as your spirit does. Until your mind begins to pick directions from your spirit, you will find it difficult to hear God. Little wonder that God’s word says in proverbs 4:23NIV that “Above all else, guard your heart (mind, understanding), for everything you do flows from it.”
In corroboration with yesterday’s devotion, different ways in which your mind downloads and pick signals from your spirit, which is regarded as hearing from God, include: following your conscience, obeying those little nudging and impressions that comes upon your heart, having peace or not having peace concerning taking a step, and just having a knowing that this is God without being even able to explain how you know it’s God. You know that you know that you know that you know. Quite interesting.
And like it was said yesterday, one litmus test to discern whether you are mishearing God is that whatsoever you perceive as God’s voice or direction will never contradict the revelation of God as seen in Christ Jesus in the written word of God (The Holy Bible).
Dearly Beloved, God speaks to you. It’s not hard. Spend quality time with God daily. Live life every day with the consciousness that God is in and with you. Your spirit has become one with his spirit. Live life every day with the consciousness that God speaks to you and that you recognize his voice, for he is your father.
Prayer and Confession
You speak Lord and I know. I am one spirit with you. You are more interested in speaking to me than I am in desiring to hear you speak. I will stay conscious of the reality that you speak to me.
