Rest in Your True Identity

Devotional Reading: The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.” Exodus 33:14 NLT

The Christian life is a life of constant growth, where different layers of fear, insecurity, and comparison are being peeled off of us as we become more and more like Christ. It’s in this walk that we discover a rest that exists from the stress of life by coming to Jesus and by staying with Jesus.

The Bible tells us that the foolish man built his house on the sand, but the wise man built his house on the rock. When the storm came, the house built on the sand experienced a great fall.

There are many times our emotional and mental fall is a direct result of us basing our identity on our work, ministry, appearance, accomplishments, or other people’s opinion about us.

If you want to beat depression and anxiety, then do not let your identity come from your title, people’s opinion of you, or your success or failure.

Your emotional well-being will collapse on you if your identity is built on anything but Jesus Christ.

Anchor your foundation on the Solid Rock which will withstand all the storms and floods of life. When His presence is with you, and you base your identity on Him – He will give you REST!

Prayer and Confession
Lord, I pray that You would help me to solidify my identity in You alone. That no matter what comes my way, I will be secure in You.
