Beautifully Crafted

Insecurity is a form of anxiety. In fact, insecurity is defined as uncertainty or anxiety about oneself. At our core, whether we want to admit it or not, we are all anxious about what others think of us.
The labels you embrace will shape how you see yourself and your insecurities. By labels I mean words like smart, beautiful, handsome, fun, outgoing, stylish, creative, athletic, dumb, ugly, lazy, overweight, boring, and annoying.
When you embrace labels based on what you think about you or what other people think about you, you are putting yourself on a roller coaster of insecurity.
That’s why you need to learn to embrace who God says you are. If you do that, you will form an identity anchored in truth. Your God-given, true identity will not bring insecurity. In fact, it will kill it.
What are some of the things God says about you? You are loved. You were created on purpose for a purpose. Through Christ you are forgiven, righteous, and holy. You are a child of God.
In Psalm 139, God your Maker says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. “Wonderfully made” is pretty straightforward: your design is amazing. But what does “fearfully made” mean? The word translated “fearfully” means causing “reverence” or “stand in awe.” It’s like when you see something so well made that you think, Wow! Whoever designed, fashioned, created, or came up with this idea is incredible!
God doesn’t make junk. He fashioned you together in such a wonderful way. You don’t have to be anything other than the man or woman God made you to be. In fact, trying to change you won’t change anything; it will only create more insecurity and rob the world of who you truly are.
Prayer and Confession
Father, I am sorry for where I have thought less of who you have called me, forgive me and help me to build my self-worth and identity on who I am in you.
