The New Covenant

Devotional Reading: “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:” — Jeremiah 31:31 (KJV)

In our anchor text, God speaks of a new covenant He will make with His people, one that will be unlike the old. This new covenant will be written on our hearts, and God will be our God, and we will be His people (31-34). This covenant is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who gives us a new heart and a new spirit.

Through faith in Jesus, we become part of this new covenant and are transformed into a new creation. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This means that our old sinful nature is gone, and we are now made new in Christ.

As a new creation, we are no longer bound by sin and death. We are free to live for God and to serve Him with our whole hearts. We are also given the gift of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live according to God’s will.

But this new creation is not just about us as individuals – it’s also about the world around us. God is making all things new, and we are called to be a part of that process. We are to be agents of reconciliation and restoration, bringing hope and light to a broken world.

As we live out our faith in Jesus, let us remember that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves. We are part of a new covenant and a new creation, one that will ultimately lead to the redemption of all things. May our lives align to this truth, and may we shine the light of Christ in all we do.

Prayer and Confession
I’m a partaker of the New covenant, redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. I’m a new creation shining the light of Christ to my world.
