Mercy – The Unseen Ladder to Greatness
Devotional Reading: “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” — Romans 9:16 (KJV)
Life is often seen as a race where the strongest, wisest, or most skillful individuals take the lead. However, the Bible consistently reveals that God’s mercy plays a crucial role in determining who truly advances. The text above suggest that, beyond effort and ambition, divine mercy is the force that lifts a person beyond human limitations.
Consider Joseph in Genesis 39. He had skills, wisdom, and integrity, but his journey from the pit to the palace was ultimately orchestrated by God’s mercy. He was a slave and a prisoner, yet God’s favor rested upon him. It wasn’t just his intelligence or hard work that brought him before Pharaoh—it was God’s hand of mercy positioning him for greatness at the right time.
In life, many people work tirelessly, yet they remain stuck. Others with fewer qualifications seem to rise effortlessly. This is not always because of injustice or luck but often because of unseen spiritual forces. Mercy is one such force, and when activated, it fast-tracks a person to their divine destiny. Hard work is necessary, but it is mercy that ultimately makes the difference.
Today, take a moment to acknowledge that your success is not just about your ability. Pray for God’s mercy to go ahead of you and make the way where effort alone cannot take you. When mercy is in operation, you will experience supernatural speed and open doors beyond human explanation.
Prayer and Confession
Father, I declare that my progress in life is not by my effort alone, but by Your mercy. Your mercy lifts me, favors me, and establishes me in my divine destiny. I receive supernatural speed and open doors that no man can shut. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
